About

Lance Vigil Architecture

Lance Vigil was born and raised in Denver, Colorado where he attended Colorado Academy. He received his BA in Economics from Colgate University in 1985. Always knowing he wanted to be an architect, he worked for a period of time for various design firms in New York City, before enrolling in the Graduate School of Architecture at Syracuse University in the fall of 1987. Three and a half years later, after a semester spent in Florence, Italy, he came back west to Colorado, to begin his career as a formally trained architect. Working for some of the most respected firms in Denver and most recently, in the United Arab Emirates, he amassed the experience to bring a fresh and professional perspective to successful project design.

Having worked on a range of project types and budgets, Lance understands the many challenges each individual project provides. Listening to the client and understanding their goals and desires are what lead to a successful collaboration and, in the end, a successful project.

The Architecture Connection

Versatile Architect accomplished at designing commercial, mixed-use and residential structures of varying scales. Experienced, dedicated designer specializing in Historic Preservation, (including sitting on Denver’s Landmarks Preservation Commission for over a year), architectural interiors, and airport architecture. Advanced knowledge of the fine arts and art installation in multiple architectural settings. Architectural work experience at home and abroad has always included involvement with the fine arts, starting with the installation of Dr. Abe Vigil’s sculpture in Governor’s Park, “Valedictorian”, and including the management of Lonnie Hanzon’s “Evolution of the Ball” sculpture at Coors Field.

Working abroad, as Design Manager/Project Manager in Abu Dhabi/Dubai, Vigil oversaw the finishing design and art/furniture installation process at the luxury resort Qasar al Sarab. He was quite active in the thriving art scene in Dubai during that time. Next, Vigil was asked to fill the role of art coordinator/installation manager for all 18 premium lounges at the new Doha,Qatar “Hamad International Airport”, where he coordinated works by Damian Hirst and Keith Haring, among many others.

    The Process

For a typical project, regardless of type of project, or size of project, the following considerations are included in the scope of work,

Working closely with the client to come up with an agreed-upon architectural scheme for the work I’ve been hired to complete. My services proposed for this work effort would include the following,

Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents, an interactive process to give physical form to the program of requirements. Schematic Design would entail working with the clients) and refining the wish list of items mentioned in the initial meetings and workshops, as required. Design Development would be documenting the decisions into hard-line drawings, which form the basis of the Construction Documents. These would then form the legal documents/plans that are then submitted to the various city agencies for the issuance of a building permit for construction,

Construction Administration, the actual construction phase of the project, where I would administer the information presented in the Construction Documents on a typically weekly basis with the contractor and construction crew, called site meetings, as required or requested.
