Lance G Vigil was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, where he attended Colorado Academy. Exposed at an early age to the fine arts, primarily by his father who was a fine artist and Art Administrator of the Denver Public School system for more than 30 years, and by his mother, a connoisseur and collector of Native American jewelry and textiles, he immersed himself into the art world of Denver, and painted and drew proficiently himself throughout his childhood, winning many local competitions, and into college and graduate school.
An emphasis on Art History classes in college further deepened his interest in the fine arts. Graduate school led to architecture school in Syracuse, and to a semester in Florence, Italy, the birthplace of the Renaissance, where art history was studied as much as architectural history. He studied the Business of Art at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, during the summer of 2016. After that, he contracted with Bonhams Auctioneers for 20 months, consigning items to sell in their international sales showrooms.
